Stay in Salinas ($85 night if you booked early) or even Santa Cruz, instead of Monterey. That wat you get to drive your car around. Monterey is way too touristy (stay away from the pier) and expensive unless you like to pay more for the experience. If it wasn't for the Vintage Races I wouldn't go at all.
if you were to go an pay $300/night for a room (3 nights) , $125 Concorso, 2 days at Seca, top level restaurants, travel 600 miles rdtrip, etc. Why not just get a plane ticket and fly to Italy and rent a new Alfa to drive around for a few days!!
