OK so after almost a month I got this fixed. I replaced the center bearing and support but still had the occasional clunk and a rubbing noise from the left rear. Decided to just drive it around the neighborhood and see what happened. After a few days got a squealing noise from the rear end. So I thought it was the rear wheel bearing and ordered same. Pulled left rear brake disc and shrapnel falls out. The parking brake shoe retaining springs had disintegrated and I'm guessing the shoes were snagging the "drum" and causing the parking brake cable to be jerked and slap the floor board. That was the cause of my initial noise. When all the bits got caught between the drum and shoe I got the squealing. Luckily have a spare axle I was able to pirate the needed parts from. Cleaned, lubed and readjusted both parking brakes and so far so good. Also, with the center support plate turned with the u shape upwards it takes all the slop out of the support and my drive train is really smooth with no vibrations apparent. Now to fix that reverse judder.
