I can certainly appreciate all the chasing you have done to get the answers from these people (I wish someone would pursue doing a repro 2600 Weber manifold with such zeal- I would guarantee that overnight 25% of all those cars sitting and rotting would have a second chance at life!), but I still am unclear as to what YOU want to do with your car.

Seems the weight issue of the Daytons is negligible, given all the weight (granted, not unsprung) hanging EVERYWHERE on these cars. Plus, I would like a little tougher rim (steel) if I was just banging around doing street driving.

The trade off for all that is you can use modern, tubeless tires with the Dayton rim design, which I think is what you are after.

For my semi-high performance application, I am happy with the stock centers, cut out and rewelded (in the age of computer die cutting, balancing and hi-tech welding) on 15" hoops. Stance makes all the difference on these cars and you can see a skewed one coming a mile away. Exhibit "A" would be the green Sprint that sold recently in Oregon. The new owner is having clearance problems with the "mags" and I am trying to help source a set of stock wheels for him.

Spiders look good with wires and would actually add value to your car if executed correctly. I'd spring for Borrani spinners maybe, but not the whole wheel.

cheers
