I, myself, watch CL everyday. I have the hopeless dream of someone advertising a solid giullieta driver with a blown engine, dead tranny, and tired suspension. You know, needing all the stuff that I like to work on, and needing none of the stuff that I don't want to work on (body, paint). I know, I know, it doesn't exist. Anyway, if such a thing did pop up, I am certain that a flipper vulture would be all over it before I could even get my coat on. While the flipper is out to make a few bucks, I am looking for a car that I can love, make beautiful, and keep 'till death do us part. I am certain that there is a legion of people out there that think like me, want an Alfa for the same purpose as I do, and consequently aren't all that thrilled with someone that they view as a possible flipper (accurately or not).
If they feel that way, is it any wonder that they would click the flag button? I also doubt that these people are going to hell for it. I'm actually hoping that Alfa lovers have a special place in heaven--where parts are cheap, rockers never rust, and the singing that is heard is from an aluminum DOHC engine. I digress!
Anyway, isn't CL absolutely free? With a $0 price tag, you probably are going to need to accept the relatively unregulated nature of the system. There are other options, of course. This forum, as you mentioned, is not as wide open as CL, but the trade-off is that you are less anonymous. There are also several car classified systems where you pay a fee, and nobody can delete you until the contract has expired, regardless of your purposes. The fee is the trade-off there, of course.
Anyway, I am done thinking through my keyboard now. I just think that it might be good to keep the perspective that you lost exactly $0 by getting flagged.
