sticky new master cylinder
I assembled my 1962 Giulia Brake master cylinder tonight, wetting the two seals with the Silicone Brake fluid I plan on using. The inside surface of the master cylinder is in great shape, as is the piston with no pitting or scoring. The new seal kit came from Alfa Parts in Berkeley. I got it all together and pushed the piston in using the rod. The piston did not return on its own. The question: Should the spring in the master cylinder in this situation cause the piston to return, or does it need the return force of all the shoe springs on the wheel cylinders? If it needs the force from the wheel cylinders, how do I bleed it?
Did I do something wrong?
