Hey Phil:
The one on my 78 Spider self cancels. I had to repair it some time ago. I am going to bet it might be the same setup. There is a spring that wraps around the column shaft a few times and hooks on each side of the inner switch on little clips. Spring usually breaks. Just find a small suitable replacement. Maybe three to four inches long a little thicker than those found in a ball point pen. I found a suitable replacement in a spring set at an advanced auto...a chain parts store. Pretty easy fix. Just pull the column cover.
