Yes,
Based on that information, I am out of dimension for four of them on the exhaust only.
Rereading my thread, I realise I have been inaccurate : I am looking for valve clearance adjusting pads (forgot the last 2 words, sorry).
Haeckner in Germany in selling a complete set of pads, but I only need 4 !
BR,
Lionel

Although the parts catalog lists shims of specific dimensions, I'm not aware of anybody selling them individually (Afra.it may be the best chance).

It is my understanding that Alfa Romeo sold sets of valve shims to dealers, who would exchange the shims on a customer's car for shims with the correct thickness and put the used ones back in the set. The underlying assumption of the valve shim exchange seems to be that on average, the pluses and minuses of all changes will amount to zero. One could even argue that used valve shims are better because the material becomes denser with use.

In other words, the valve shims were not considered a consumable item that needed to be replaced with new ones. New valve shims were only necessary when old ones were damaged or lost.

If you can't find them, have some made (on a lathe) to your required specs in high-quality steel and make sure they are hardened.

Hello Lionel,

I changed out my valves for 9mm and have about 20 "old" shims still. If you let me know which sizes you need I can check if I have these.

George

Hi George,
That would be great.
Here are the thicknesses :
1.800
1.725
1.875
1.650
Based on the shop manual, the increment between each caps is 0.025 mm, so those values should be available, I hope you have them !
Why did you change to 9mm valves ? what are the main benefits ?
BR,
Lionel

George, I like the idea of smaller valve stems. What valves did you use and what modifications were necessary to make them fit? Regards, Lock

Lock,

A machine shop in Holland did the work, they used Comp + super alloy valves by Ferrea, to the dimensions of the current twin spark engines. So not 9 as I said earlier but 8mm. The rest was all made to fit, including seats for lead-free petrol (this is europe..). It runs very smoothly and I can adjust with easy to get shims

Hi Björn,
Good to know, it will be useful for next time and I guess it is a good address to know.
Thanks to Georges, I have been able to put everything back to the correct thickness.
Now , the engine is running smoothly, and I miss only a few thing to be ready to have the car on the road again , I can't wait, I have been working on it for the last 2 years !
I hope to be ready for Tjöloholm, will you go ?
Lionel

RE: 2600's

Why don't you post some photos of your 2600 when you get the chance? There aren't many photos of 2600's here.

Yes,
Sorry for late answer, but I was busy working on the car ! I am done with a lot of things, it's running pretty well now and I just passed the inspection, so I will post pictures when ready pretty soon.
