Need 2000 spider windshield

hi everyone. i am new to this forum, but have always been an alfa enthusiasts for years. recently i have found a 2000 touring spider that went through a complete restoration and then stored away in a barn for 10 years. the car also included a hardtop!!! the car was restored by a top alfa specialist marty craft. i am so excited to finally have this car in my garage. i will post pictures of pulling this car from the garage and into my garage!! the only problem with this car is that the front windshield is of a 2600 spider and so i am looking for a 2000 windshield. if you can help me please let me know. i am willing to trade for a 2000 windshield, or sell my windshield if someone needs a 2600 winshield. please let me know if you have a 2000 windshield for sale.

According to the parts manuals, both the 2000 and the 2600 use the same windshield, part no. 102.07.61.504.00. So my guess is that you have a correct windshield.

I'll third that, but I'm curious as to what made you think that it had an incorrect windshield?

the owner of the car told us that previous people that saw the car noticed that the windshield did not fit right... they said that it might be a 2600 windshield because they are so similar. if the part numbers are the same of both windshields maybe its from a different model car. either way the windshield does not fit properly there are little gaps in the corners.

i just called the owner and told him what you guys said and he said the windshield might be the right one, but has the wrong rubber around it...?

The windshield seals consist of 4 pieces that must be cut to size to fit properly which I'm told is a very frustrating and error-prone procedure. The fact that the re-manufactured seals by Cicognani are not every precise does not help much either.

Attached are the relevant pages from the 2000 and 2600 parts catalogues that show the pieces. (The 2000 page is from the CarDisc International Ltd. - Home Page CD).

FYI, here's a picture of what the seals around lower end of the windshield posts are supposed to look like.

Basically I am on the same page as everyone else regarding the sage advice that is given out on this forum. However, several years ago, I had the unfortunate problem replacing my 1960 2000 windshield with a 2600 windshield. It did not work. If you ever find the correct windshield, do not attempt to do it by yourself, it is a bear of a job. Just my 2 cents! P.S. I found if I kept all of the windshield rubbers and seals wet during installation it was a little easier to get the fit.

This whole discussion has me thinking, so I will compare the original windshield from my 2000 with the Sicurvetro replacement I bought a while back. They are both sitting on the shelf side by side in my garage since I am not yet ready to reinstall the windshield. I do recall when I unpacked it from the crate I thought the curvature was slightly different, but I didn't do a detailed comparison at the time. I intend to reinstall the original windshield since I know for sure it fits, and it is in pretty good shape for a 46 year old piece of glass in Arizona, but I got the other one as a spare a couple of years ago under the guise of "get when the gettin's good".

Arno: We had this windshield discussion while you were judging my car at the Fort Lauderdale AROCNC a few years ago. You were deducting points because of a deep wiper scratch. I told you about my 2600 windshield experience. I am still in need of a GOOD piece of glass. Hope all is well. Robert F. Lucas

by looking at the car, it seems the rubbers are buldging in certain areas of the windshield so i guess ill be pulling the windshield and trimming the rubbers.

a part of my enquires for the parts price for a possible restauration project, I asked afra (AFRA S.a.s. - Benvenuto / Welcome) some days ago for the price and availability of this type of windshield. They have it in stock for a price of 340 Euros.
