Hi Charles, hi Jay, hi all....

unfortunately I didn´t read this threat till today! Jay, I think you´re talking about me.
Yes, I have this partscar, but in a very poor condition. If it helps - tell me!
I bought it, because bodyparts are really hard to find. There is nothing at AFRA and all the others....
The bumbers and other parts for example are much easier to find. There were several sellers at the fiera "Auto e Moto dčpoca" at Padova in October.
(I saw them beeing rebuilded at "Epoca Car" an italian parts dealer near Mestre VE )
@ Charles: the CD with all the pics is on its way to Malta

good luck!
Werner

Werner's photo

Thanks Werner,

if the photos that you sent are like these they will surely help. The photo that you enclosed is showing the heater which i just looked up in my garage and found (not in the best of conditions) and now we are thinking how it should hang. I hope there are similar photos of the other wing as well to see what should go behind the front panel.

thanks again,

Regards

Charles

Werner,

thanks and regards

WONDERFUL, you've contacted!!!!

Ah, Werner and Charles:

Don't know how I could confuse Munich with Spain, Werner. I did want the two of you to get together. And just as you found it easier to hang a piece of a parts car on yours to fix it, I think Charles needs mainly the remaining corner of yours to fix his. He needs also: (1) clear photos of how the inside fender on the passenger side is cut down internaly to fit the cold air box. (2) clear indication that there is nothing inside the right front corner except the headlight bucket (i.e. no heater core).

Charles: two liter spiders never have decent heaters. The teeny motor for the fan squeeks and slows down quits running. And in the winter when one drives it (as I did for 30+ years as a daily driver) the generator does not put out enough juice (i.e. electricity) to run heater motor, wiper motor, ignition demands AND radio. Even with the biggest battery I could find (F27) the battery would run down and I would regularly recharge it. As for the fan being able to heat the car, not really. But it did help in keeping the windshield from fogging too badly. Finally, Charles, I'm sorry I had trouble figuring out exactly what you wanted by your wording of "bonnet" stops. I would call them hood bumpers (or stops). Now I see the parts book calls them "bonnet stops". But by your comment on the picture I understand now. The two near the windshield are much taller than the two in front (and the parts book acknowledges that). Besides the couple left on the car of Werner I would be willing to bet he also has the other two since they usually are not that damaged in a crash. Otherwise, tell me which you need -- front or rear. Easier to send them than send a nose part, but I encourage you getting them from Werner. Finally, and may the rest of the board forgive me. I am going to show you how the sheet metal fits according to the part book. No one sells these parts by number (not even in Brazil since no spiders were ever made there), but the relationships to pieces might be of value to your panel beater.

Jay

Bonnet stops

as the work on the front end seems to be progressing quite well, photographic details would help quite a lot. The bonnet stops are as you mentioned and being rubber i would have prefered to find these original. I also now searching for the rubber pads for the upper arms (part 1356.45034).

As for the heater, i wish it to be made working but it will not effect me much considering that the car will only be used with good weather.

And to be precise, I am not in Spain, but in Malta, a republic island south of Italy, just 100 km beneath the island of Sicily.

thanks for all you help

Charles

Jig saw

Dear All,

i am back with more requests for help. I am attaching some pics for which i would appreciate your feed back.

pic 07-1211 (1) - that is my panel beater. No help is requested from you but a lot from him.
pic 07-1212 (1) - this pic shows some parts (2 + 2) that i have found and forgot from where they came from. Can anyone help?
pic 07-1212 (2) - this pic shows the cover of the windshield pillar's nuts which i have identified but i cannot understand from where the other parts come from. can anyone help?
the scanned sheet shows some parts which i cannot recognised. the Radiator support shows a triangle welded on. i do not have this and the photos supplied by Franco also seem to have these missing. Can someone explain. I also have no idea what the other part marked is.

thanks and best regards

Charles

Hi Werner,

I am sorry, but i was sure i had thanked you for the cds but it seems i did not because i could not find the correspondence. They are of great help and my panel beater was very happy with them. Unfortunately work on the spider had to stop due to some health problems to the panel beater. I hope that he will return to work as soon as possible now that the worst has passed and i understand he is much better.

I wish you the best of 2008 particularly enjoying your Spider

thanks again and apologise for not coming back earlier

Charles

Smile Still Alive

Dear All,

the panel beater has lately continued to work on my spider and is nearing the end (hopefully). He has handed me a piece to try to locate where this part came from. can anyone help? i am attaching some photos taken on the terrace of our summer house one showing the mediterranean sea

I hope that in a few months time the car will be at the sprayer and then assembly will start. Hopefully the car will be on the road for Summer 2009.

thanks in advance

charles

Mount for heater

That bit is off the bottom of the heater companent. Do you have a heater in Malta? Probably not. If not, then disregard this piece. It is not off the car body, but is welded to the heater shrouding so that the heater can be bolted to the upright from inside the left front fender through the square hole in the front of the left inside fender from the bottom of the heater. Do you need photos or parts book pages? Jay

Heater

Thanks for your valuable information Jay, I will try it when i go back to the panel beaters now.

I will probably never use the heater in that car as i rarely do in any car anyway. But i do want to have the car as it originally came out of the factory if possible.

Thanks again,

Charles

Look at prior photo from Werner

Charles, just looked at full thread. I noticed the photo that Werner sent of his parts car with the drivers side fender cut off (the one he needed to fix his car). It shows how the heater mounts. The two bolts on the bottome mounting it to the body can only be reached through the square hole in the bottom of the inside fender. The pieces you showed are welded onto the bottom of heater (I suspect yours might have been damaged beyound repair?) housing for the heater core with the fan mouinting to the front of it. The hose that attaches to the piping just above the water pump on the front of the engine runs to the top of the heater core, and the hose from the back of the engine comes to the bottom (attached first to the heater valve which attaches to the bottom of the heater core). Forgive me for not sending a copy of the photo from Werner again. I do have a heater out on the bench right now if you need better phots (for example, if the panel beater must make something without patterns or pieces). The bit you have is very minor in regard the full housing. Jay
