Behind rear seat 2600 spider

I'm trying to find out what is supposed to be adhered to the sheet metal behind the rear seat "warp-around" on the spider. When I got the car it had some remnants of a black linen-like fabric glued to the metal behind and on the sides of the rear seat space. (covered the opening where the cross member & fender opening can be seen).

1. if it's supposed to have a fabric lining, what fabric should be used?

2. is there supposed to be anything in addition to the fabric covering that side opening (just forward of the rear wheel on each sidewell)?

any recommendations?

Thanks

David

The bottom of the seat pans were lined with something I can best describe as mixture of asphalt, horse hair and cork (same stuff that was on the floors but thinner, maybe about 5mm or 1/4 in thick). I was not able to find any such material and will be trying the Nitrolite instead.
Furthermore, the whole seat area (back and seat pans) was covered by grey felt, about 1/8 in thick, that stopped near the wheel well (see attached image). Again, I'm thinking of using Nitrolite for this.

Not to my knowledge. All I can see is that undercoating has been sprayed in this area.

Thanks Ruedi;

I'm becoming a fan of this Nitrolite stuff;

another application: I had taken apart my gauges to clean & refresh them and found that the little rubber spacers between the plastic inner dial and black spacer rims were disintegrated; I cut small pieces of black Nitrolite to use instead. They reassembled perfectly because being more of a "foam" type" material, it compressed to adjust. It has excellent memory so it won't lose its compression/spring back abilities.

David, if you want to use the correct liner it is a hardura felt and is distributed by Woolies in England. They have a distributor in Canada ,This material was used in many British cars of the period. The important thing is the thickness of the material is just right,not too thick. It is available from MacGregor Coachtrimmings in Dundas, Ontario, Canada phone number is 905-627-4006 . Its listed as Black Hardura pvc coated felt.
