1900 - positive or negative earth?

Hi,

I am trying to get a friend's 1900 started. He told me it was positive earth and that is the way I installed the battery for him, but the Facet fuel pump is not working (which is a negative earth unit) and I am wondering if the car is negative earth. I don't know for sure if a Facet fuel pump will work wired as either positive or negative earth. On a related note, how could I tell if the car were switched to negative earth, or not?

Thanks in advance,

Bob Brady

According to the charging system schematic as shown in 1900 repair manual #583 dated 5/57, the system is a negative earth.
