There is a guy around here (Louisville) That has an (I believe) aluminium bodied version of this car. It's in the process of being restored slowly. I think I remember him telling me it was a Paris show car one of two. Pretty neat car though. It's fun to see where the panel beaters made the parts and peices from the inisde of the car where the headliner is out. Just thought I'd pipe in. Sorry to butt into the thread.

Tom Hines...now that is a name I haven't heard of in years. Where did he go after Peter Satori?

A black TI super berlina in LA circa 1974? I don't know anything about it! The person to contact would be Peter Marshall in England. If he doesn't know, no one does!

Stu, Here is what I do know...the TI Super was a complete car sitting in a wrecking yard in Compton. Al Cortes knew of the car that I learned later. He was going to buy it but someone else beat him to the car. I got the 6c2500ss from the same wrecking yard...yes, we are talking 1974. I got the lead on the 6c from Dick that worked at Shankle when they were out in Van Nuys on El Cabrito Blvd. I heard of a guy that had some parts in Long Beach. I followed the leads and met a fellow who names escapes me now, that had a black TI Super in his garage. I think this is the guy that bought the car. The owner said that the car was full of rust. He also had a FIAT 8V! What happened to the cars or the owner...I have no clue. Someone on here maybe can fill in the blanks. I did the reseach on the car and came up with some very low production numbers, but I was a starving student going to photo school and all of my income went to photo gear, film and gasoline driving to Santa Barbara every day. So buying the TI Super from the wrecking yard was out of the question.

The guy I bought the TI berlina from that I sold to Al Cortes (NOT a TI Super berlina) was Larry Vivian, and he had (has?) a Fiat 8V in his garage. He lived in Long Beach. This was circa 1984. Larry brought the car over from Germany in the 1960s, along with the Fiat 8V (which he raced with the German motoring journalist Sloniger)

Looks like he still has the 8V. It took a gong at the Concorso Italiano this year, and little wonder ... That Rapi coachwork is just beautiful.
I am going to get one, one day!!!

It's chassis #100, engine #147, and Larry is just the 2nd owner, having bought it in Germany in 1955 after it was reposessed from the first owner by a finanace company.
FIAT would not sell Larry a new 8V, as they were worried about an American having one and the warranty problems they might have!

That is the car!! OMG...This is really a small world. Larry Vivian. So Al Cortes did wind up with Vivians 1900. Yes, I remember Larry telling me that FIAT wouldn't sell him a 8V for that very reason. I never did see the car in the daylight. How many 8V's were made? I knew it was a rare car when I saw it.

According to Tony Adriaensen's book:
114 Fiat 8Vs (but it was though that 109 were made, and car #114 waqs found not too long ago), plus Approx 61 Siata 8Vs (the exact number is unknown, as it appears some cars were renumbered)

Last time I talked to Al, he was going to use the motor out of Larrys TI berlina in one of the coupes he has, which PO'ed me, as he was going to restore the car and were were going to co-drive it in the MM retro...one of the reasons I sold him the car for exactly what I paid for it.
Al has another 1900 berlina, but I think it is a single carb 1884cc one...

Progress
Hello,
Some of you may remember the New Jersey 1900 Primavera. Just thought I would post a couple of "progress pics" before doing its own post when it's all complete (not in time for August, unfortunately).
We started with a non-Pebble restoration in mind, just making the car look like it was well kept / loved along the way. Andy Schank did all the paint, bodywork, etc. It came out better than I would have hoped-- he took some of the pics.
More pics when it's done-- we still need to install lights and do some exhaust / minor mechanical work.

Guido: The car looks great! What paint did you use and how did you determine the color scheme?

Thank you-- we used the ppg dbc paint and I believe Andy mixed in a matting agent. We got them to color match the original, although it was badly faded and painted over in parts, so it was a bit of a pain to get a match. We ended up using the interior dash color for the gray and found some non faded gold.
The only place where we consciously moved away from the original is in the color of the wheels, which looked a bit trans-am-fabulous in gold.
