Thanks for the responses guys, the more I think about it the more I think I agree it is probably more than I want to take on right now and will be putting it in the classifieds here, craiglist, and stuff like that as a parts car. So if anyone is interested I will cut you a great deal to keep from having to move it (I am moving into my new house and really do not want to have to move it again).

Sorry if I chime in late, but I'm currently traveling with intermittent and rather expensive Internet access.

Like GTD, I looked at some of the pictures and very quickly thought "parts car." Specifically, my fear with this car would be that it has structural rust that you may not find until you're deep into stripping it. I hate to see any 102 or 106 cars being torn apart rather than restored, but unless there is any significant historical or emotional reason, the economics just don't work out to bring this car back to life.

So, I think your decision to sell it is a good one. You can get a better car for less money you would have to spend on this one to make it driveable.

Do NOT attempt to restore that car! That thing is more iron oxide than steel!

If you must own a drivable 2600, it would be FAR cheaper to buy one in better
condition. It is nice that people are being positive by telling you to "go for it!", but they really aren't giving you realistic advice. If you have limited resources, this is definitely not a project that you want to take on. Even if you can do all of the metal work yourself (and you will pretty much need to rebuild the entire unibody on that rust bucket), the upholstery, plating, and parts will come to a LOT of money - the $30K quote is probably the bottom of the range.

You might try driving a finished 2600 before investing a significant chunk of your life in rescuing one. They are a larger/heavier car than 4 cylinder Alfas - not that this is bad - but it isn't a little sports car built for windy roads. If you appreciate Alfa mechanicals, you might look for a 4 cylinder car to restore (and one that's less rusted!). Parts are more available and less expensive for the 4 cylinder Alfas of the 60's and 70's.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sorry I am just now posting a response guys, I have been working alot and haven't checked the board in a while.

It must have been in March or April that I sold it for parts. I agreed that it was just too bad off (i tore into it a little more and the structural rust was just too bad, most of the bodywork except for the nose was fairly saveable).

I am hoping the guy that bought is just putting it to good use keeping his car/cars on the road. I haven't seen a bunch of extra 2600 parts I recognize popping up on ebay so I think it went to someone that really needed it.

I am just playing with some projects I already had going right now but when I get some extra cash I am going to try to find a decent GTV I think.
