Headlights on 2600 Spider

Hello all,

I purchased a set of four 5 3/4" carellos on ebay thinking that I can use them on my mom's 2600 touring, but now I am not sure if the car has four 5 3/4"s... (have not seen the car for couple of years) . If 2600 touring does not use four 5 3/4"s, I have to take them to my mom in Japan so that she can use them on either montreal or Jr.Z (the 2600 is in the states). Please help me with the diameter of the headlights on 2600 touring!!

Thank you,

The lights on the 2600 Touring Spider have different sizes (see picture). The outer light is about 7-1/4" and the inner about 5-3/4".

... I have never heard of 7 1/4" round light, so I am assuming that it is a combination of regular 7" and 5 3/4", just like 1750GTV/berlina, 2000GTV and giulia supers. Anyways, now I am left with a set of four 5 3/4" carello lights (two lows and two high beams) . I was going to take them home, but I just remembered that cars drives on the other side of the road over there in Japan!! Maybe the god is telling me to get GTV6 or 2000 berlina, two kinds of alfas I am interested in (they are pretty inexpensive too!) ...

I wrote "about 7-1/4" because I recall that mounting modern outer lights may result in an ugly gap between the glass and the trim ring. I believe some owners use a spacer ring or a different trim ring. I'll see if I can measure the size of the original Carello lights next time I'm in the garage.

Tubut,

Thank you for the information. I remember hearing about headlights on early 750 sprint being unique in their diameter, and I recall the headlights on my mom's 1900M being smaller than 7" but larger than 5 3/4" so I guess it's the same kind of issue. I bet the original style carellos are $$$$ .

Yes, the old style Carellos are BIG bucks, IF you can find them.

Tiger, do you still have the Carellos? I might be interested in a pair if you are looking to sell them.

There are so few 2600s around that I don't think it would cost you enough points at a concours to justify the cost of the Carellos over simple sealed beam lamps.....maybe at Pebble Beach, but they wouldn't accept a 102 or 106 unless it was a special bodied version anyway...

My 2600 currently has flat faced lights, and would like to go to something that looks more like the originals, without spending the big bucks for NOS Carellos.

Were the originales sealed beam (I don't think so)?

Could someone recommend a suitable replacement, I've seen these, but I'm not sure they're adequate.

Thanks
