Old 1900 Series III wiring Harness

Here are some photos of an old wiring harness from a 1900 Sprint Series III. As evidenced by the photos, in some detail, you can notice the wiring colors. There is even vinyl wiring wrapped in cloth sheathing. Original, absolutely yes. The belief that these cars were fitted with all black wiring is due to the fact that most of the wiring was dyed in colors; over time, these tended to wear or peel off thus giving the erroneous assumption of an all black wiring. Hope to assist 1900 owners with a wealth of factual information.

Second top photo: wiring to tail section; Green, White, Gray, brown
Third photo: Dip switch; Blue, Gray, Green
Fourth photo: Relay; Gray, Red, Black
Fifth photo: Headlight switch; Green, Red, White

Once I complete the new wiring harness I will post photos of the finished product.

Here are some photos for a 1900 series III Sprint exact reproduction new wiring harness. You can review the before and after photos depicting the old harness and the new harness for comparison purposes. Earlier harnesses were all black with colored ends that often did not reflected the same color scheme at the opposite end of the circuit. As a result, these issues lead to many challenges during fault diagnostic thus, resulting in cut and patched wires all over the car. Would this explain why 1900 series cars have the absolute worse wiring of any post war period car? You decide, I will only present you with the evidence. Replacing an old harness with an new black harness does not make any economical or practical sense at all. They where never intended to be an all black harness, otherwise, why bother coloring the end of the wire. It is preferable to follow the same color scheme through the entire harness than making an all black harness.

Enjoy the photos.
