Which Pertronix kit for 2600 spider?

I would like to fit a Pertronix Ignitor kit to my 2600 spider (Marelli distributor with dual points/three lobe cam). Pertronix tells me they have nothing to fit this distributor, yet other members have reported using their system.

Can someone shed some light on this?

John

Thanks Chris,

Yes the 123 looks good, and I'm still considering it - but it is over $400, and the Pertronix system is under $100.

You should try Classic Alfa in the UK..... I can't speak to their current prices, but 5 mos ago, I purchased one from them for my 2600 and it was $ 350, including shipping to the US, (but of course, no VAT).

I realize it's more than a $ 100. pertronix, BUT it's a complete drop-in distributor, so no fiddling or compatibility issues, and it's pretty much a permanent solution

Thanks David,

Classic Alfa quoted me 225 + 20 Shipping GBP which is $392 @ $1.60/pound.

I am still considering it.

Maybe the Pertronix is false economy?

There is no Pertronix model made specifically for the 2600. In the past, the company has been willing to modify units developed for other six cylinder distributors so that they will work in the Marelli or Bosch distributors used in the 2600. For example, it is possible the Pertronix II unit (91867A) sold for use in Bosch distributors for Mercedes six cylinder cars of the same era could be made to fit in the Bosch distributor for the 2600, or it might not fit at all. If the company won't give you a hint, you could get stuck with useless hardware.

Thanks,

That's kind of what I figured.

I'll give them a call (I previously emailed them) and ask them about the 91867A unit.

So, unless they or someone can enlighten me on the unit to buy-and-modify, I'm going to use the original Marelli dual point distributor for now, and swap it out for the 123 unit down the road.
