Alfa 2600 spider grill re-chrome

Hi next newbie question

I am planning to rechrome the front grill on the 2600 spider - the heart appears to be chrome on brass as it is not rusting and brass is showing through

The centre slats - are they stainless? I dismantled one which was bent which looks to be bright stainless . But when I try and polish it it does not come up well

What should I have chromed and what can be polished?

I just did the grille on my 2600. The surround should be chromed, and the slates polished. You will have to drill the rivets out to do a perfect job. The frame that hold the slats together is also stainless and should be polished.

Typical of an old Alfa

The surround is brass and has cleaned up very nicely, ready for chroming.

The slats are stainless but have been built up/repaired with brass and then chromed ! So these will have to be rechromed too!

If you are interested I have an original center grille nice and straight that will have to be polished(but it was never molested. $150

Thanks for your offer - but I don't have the funds to buy the slats . My car wil never be concours - just a good condition runner. ( well when the engine is fixed!)

I am having the one slat rechromed for $12 for now
