Way back in February I posted 105 GT/GTV
production figures .
The first year of production of the 105 coupe was 1963. However, they were sold as 1964 models. 1965 was the first year that the Sprint GT was sold in the U.S.
Alex, the term "GTV" was first officially used with the introduction of the 1750GTV. My '67 is definitely a Giulia Sprint GT Veloce. All Series 1 105 coupes, GT Sprint and GT Sprint Veloces, had twin-carb 1600 engines.
The GT Sprint Veloce differentiated from the GT Sprint in the following aspects:
- Seven bar center grill.
- Black mesh side grills carrying three horizontal SS bars.
- Green quadrifoglio C-pillar emblems (Sprint GT's were sans C-pillar emblems).
- Restyled hubcaps with "Alfa Romeo" inscribed in the center ring.
- Addition of the "Veloce" emblem on the rear vertical panel.
- ATE disc brakes (Sprint GT's had the notoriously unreliable Dunlop disc brakes).
- 3 more BHP but improved torque characteristics from a reworked cylinder head with smaller inlet ports, increased valve lift, revised timing and re-jetted carbs, made the GTV a much more responsive and satisfying car to drive.
- Bucket seats with deep side bolsters.
- "Wood-effect" dash.
- Deeper dished steering wheel with horn buttons in all three spokes.
Did you know that 1750GTV's (and subsequentially 2000GTV's) have slightly smaller trunks due to increased volume in the rear seating area?
