My rotisserie complete!

Okay as I said in another thread I stopped posting for the christmas break as I was doing the family thing ... but I was also busy in my shed making my spit/rostisserie.

In the end I mounted it on the front at the steering box/idler mounting holes and at the rear on what I think are rear seat belt attachment brackets. As my car as never had rear seat belts I am not 100% sure about this but the thread is the standard for seat belt bolts and the brackets are very strong and many spot welds to the inner rear arch.

I did not go in Blue Flame's direction for 2 reasons:
1. I wanted to work on the front bumper mounting points as these are rusty (as are the surrounding area), and
2. I'm really not confident that the boot area is strong enough. Saying that I have de-rusted this area so it probably is.

Thus I ran a beam through the front and rear windscreens and make attachment brackets that connected to the car from this beam. I reused the 50 x 50 RHS that I had made the cars previous chassis jig with and this was not strong enough (yep I was too lazy to do the calc's ... I have a certificate in mechanical engineering so should know better ) ... thus I ended up stitch welding another 50 x 50 RHS to make a compound beam. If I was to start again I would select a MUCH larger member, say 150 x 150 x 8 RHS. The compound beam does bend but the shell does not bounce thus it is strong enough ... I will return it to horizontal and place jack stands under for insurance when phases of work are completed ...

Anyway here are a few pictures (EDIT: 18/06/06, added photo showing end post bracing):
