No. It has a level adjustment either manually or later versions had electronic motors to do this from the cabin.
They do not have a switch plate that switches the beam pattern from LHD to RHD. Only later model BMW's, VW's/AUDI's had those.

The manual adjustment for level is located on the back of the housing, it is white. Slide it up or down. This adjustment is only for use when you have axtra weight in the rear of the car that can set the beam up higher, this lowers the beam while still being in alignment so that you do not blind oncoming traffic.

It is located on the lower cluster shroud. Similar looking to the dimmer switch. I can get you one but it may take me a month.
You need to have electronic levelers for it to work. I have the proper plugs for the motors in-stock.
Sold my last trim piece with level adjustment module.

i just bought the headlights off ebay havent received them yet, the description listed motors and all the necessary connectors and eyebrow trim pieces are included. I dont know much about the euro headlights but it sounds like I have everything but that adj. button so if you could get it that would be great and also what would be the cost. thanks

No, sounds like you just bought the euro lights that have been converted to fit the USA wire harness and come with lower trim on the headlight.
No cluster trim or rheostat to control level.

No need to worry about THE button with Bosch Euro projector headlights. Yes the lights do come with electric leveling motors but they also come with manual adjustors. The motors are left in place to hold reflectors in "upright and locked" position. Manual adjustors are used when headlights installed to aim lights correctly for normal driving.

I usually don't carry enough weight in rear of car to make a difference. My passengers set in the seats not in the trunk.

Not sure the leveling option really needed. I wonder which country came up with that crazy rule so car makers thought it was needed in the first place.

Just use lights with motor left in place and enjoy the new brightness.

I agree, I think the leveling option is rarely if ever needed.

As Steve says the headlights, like most headlights have a horizontal and vertical adjustment to align the headlamps. The Level whether manual or electronic are not of any concern.
Only one concern is that they are in the up position when aligning them or you can break the unit or unscrew the adjustment screw and have to pull it apart to fix it.
I think the level adjustment is a good thing to have if you ever travel with a lot of luggage and people in the back. But thats rare.
If you need a good explanation of how to adjust them and mount them properly let me know?

or go to Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply for aiming procedure. If not properly aimed they are really no good. When properly aimed they are amazing.

Use a good H1 bulb. I suggest Phillips Premium +30% available at Car Bulbs from Power Bulbs - upgrade xenon car bulbs, headlight bulbs, autobulbs and autolamps from Philips, Osram and Narva. Philips X-Treme Power, Osram NightBreaker, Osram Silverstar and more., no need to go for anything more than this when it comes to bulbs. Blue coated are junk.

These are proven to have better distance, width than standard H1
Or Vision plus: But I prefer No blue coatings even if only on the tip.

The standard bulbs are fine but these add a bit more vision.
I am a bit of alighting junky so ask me if you have questions.

Ciao!
Jason

Steady young fellow, take slow easy breathes, and repeat after me I am (almost) an Alfaholic. Welcome to the Alfa Club! Do run slowly though as you learn about your 164. Care and feeding of a 164 is very important.

I believe Simon has given us a very important vehicle here with alfaBB to share our love for the marque. I can't imagine how we did it before the internet.

When in doubt ask and if possible search for stuff we have already posted but if you can't find it ask us seek and we shall find.

Enjoy your 164.

Yes, Welcome grasshopper. enjoy your new found love. Use the search as much as needed and as Steve says ask if you can't find it. This is a very finicky car if you will but we can all help you through it and most of us enjoy helping each other out. We are a small group of owners. Some of us Like Steve and I started way back on the old 164 forum (now slightly dead since BB started) and have been through all the hassles of the 164. Some of us have been here, jeeze like 8 years!!!! Yikes. Very tight community! Hope you have a long ride with her.

Your first upgrade was probably one of the #1 choices in my book, not only for looks but for safety!! You will enjoy them.

Here is the original forum we all started out in. There is a lot of info here too. Although this information may be dated it can be a great tool.

Ciao for now.
