Ciao Alfisti,
I have an opportunity to trade my ‘91 164L for a ‘94 164LS. ( I want manual transmission and they prefer a automatic transmission). I would like your brutally honest opinions about moving forward in this transaction. Specifically, I am wondering about the pros/cons of moving from the ‘91 to the ‘94. Should I have my mechanic inspect anything in particular when he looks over the new car? Can anyone give me the ballpark values between these two models? In short, what would you do considering future parts, service and likely problems for the new model.
All replies are appreciated and here are the particulars (sorry, no pics):
- Both cars have these similar details: 100% California cars, never been hit/damaged, good/original black paint, good/restored interiors, good engines, all accessories work well, new tires.
‘91 = 131,400 miles, rebuilt transmission @127k - runs well - passes ca smog, automatic
‘94 = 93,400 miles, unsure of other work - runs well - passes ca smog, manual
Finally, the ‘91 has a black/gray - plastic type panel running on the lower half of the sides of the vehicle. The `94 has a chrome strip running down the side, but no panels. I prefer the look with the panels. I thought some ‘94 models have these panels. Could I add them to this car without too much fuss? Or, is the car better off without them?
Thanks for any response!
