Lucas has arrived in my 164. It is pitch dark!

I was out driving yesterday in my 164 3.0 12v QV 1992 and i got to this place where there is alot of rush trafic. So i do what i always do on this spot, turn of the engine and just let the car roll, because you can roll for like 5 minutes before you need to start again.

The probem this time when i started again was that everything was pitch dark. Almost nothing worked anymore. The windsheild wiper, close/long/fog ligths was gone, el. windows didn't work, sunroof didn't work, the lights in the dashboard was totaly gone, and the climate control didn't work. The only things that worked was the el. adjustable mirrors, seats (recaro), lights in the clock and temperature guage in the midle console and the ligths in the midle console except the fog light swicth. And the most anoying of them all was that the electrical suspension is so stiff that i am now shaken not stirred.

Anyone knows what the he(#"¤%"!# is going on? What can cause this?

Jump red to pink please

Probably contact in ignition switch gave up. Drop your fuse panel door and if a LHD model locate 4-wire connector to ignition switch located under dash forward of driver's right knee. You should have red power wire, brown wire for engine systems, pink for your dead systems and black or purple for start system. Jump from red to pink and see if "lucas darkness" goes away.

Lucas has been found, now i need to kill him!

Thank you so much! I have located the problem.

I did what you said and jumped the red and the purpel one (in my case it was white) Then the wiper started, so it worked, i found lucas! Now i only need to kill him. After this i measured the resitance from the ignition itself and the purple one was totaly dead. So now i need a new ignition. In the meanwhile i will only use a litle cable between when i drive.

But again thank you! Now i have learned something new!

The onlye problem i see now is on how to change the ignition unit. Anybody knows how?
