intercooler and filter question

is it possible to get an intercooler for a 164? Also, is it worth it to swith to a conical type air filter instead of the air box?

Unless you have a turbocharged 164, then no you don't need an intercooler. The purpose of an intercooler is to cool down the intake temperature after it gets heated up while being compressed by a turbo or supercharger. An intercooler on a normallly aspirated engine would just be a huge intake restriction.

Cone air filters tend to suck in hot engine compartment air which usually results in less power. They make more noise, that's about it. Unless you locate it somewhere where it will get lots of cool air.
