Anyone seen/driven this 164?
Here's the ad on craigslist.

Any help is appreciated as my neighbor wants a 164.
Thanks

HAHAHAH!!!!
That's my pop's old car Sean. We know the history of it since like 97 or whatever. The dealer gave us 500$ for it as a trade in for my father's new 9-3. It had a 25K mile engine put into it at around 60K miles yet it still burned some oil...
There are a few major dings around the car, one on the front left like you can see, and a slightly larger one just before the horizontal bar light. Paint is good. The car was a blast to drive and had good power. It wasn't in any major accident but my dad ran it over a devider one time. Wasn't as bad as it sounds, the sump is just fine but the front beam and radiator are slightly crooked in the car. Overall, I think the car should be worth more like 1700 or so. It's a shame how much 164s have depreciated over time...my father paid 9K for it because it was stick shift and had only 38K miles.
The car is practically an L model, yet isn't. It has black leather interior and sunroof and all the other L goodies minus the heated rear seats and ABS. The car was converted to the newer type freon a couple of years ago. It blew cold but started losing efficiency after the first year. I think all it needed was a recharge. Fun car, hope it finds a good home.

Thats hilarious!!! Also, the white 86' GTV6 on Craigslist is one we sold last year. So we'll probably have a look at your 164 this weekend.
My neighbor wants an Alfa, but has a family so the 164 was a practical solution for him. Do you think it would be worth it?
Yes, the owner sent me pictures of all the "trouble spots" which dont seem to be that bad. We might end up buying it...who knows...
Also, go get that 3.0 GTV6 on Craigsist in L.A, but it still wouldn't be as fast as mine because I have the LSD transaxle!!

3.0 GTV6 isn't unique enough..you AND my friend Jay own one..how many of my friends own a verde?
My dad got a 9-3 because he wanted a car that didn't give him any trouble on his commute to Livermore. Go look at the car for sure, but I think if his funds support it, your friend should pay top dollar and get a car that has a service record at a reputable shop. I can attest that my father's cheap side in him have led to some neglected maintenances, nothing major though (he did change the oil and filter in a timely manner.) The power airial is a 20$ unit from ebay!
PS, if that 3.0 GTV6 LA car doesn't have the LSD, it will have shorter gearing. But, you would of course PWN it on the turns!

No - if sean takes turns too fast he bottoms out. If sean goes straight too fast he bottoms out. If sean sneezes, he bottoms out.

Oh believe me, i know that, but you're forgetting my car doesn't grind going into second gear Find a gtv6 with original transmission that doesn't grind? Therefore, I'm faster...

Don't make me come out in my new Mitsubishi. It's orange
the look on the PO's face was priceless when I broke the front tires loose pulling into traffic and then shifted at redline
