Voltmeter showing 12V, alternator going south?

Hi

As the title says really. My volt meter on my 164 shows 12V when fully loaded i.e. Aircon on, lights on, and at idle. When i rev the engine, the headlight becomes a little brighter and the voltmeter increase to 13V.

The car starts the 1st time in the morning no prob. Battery is less than a year old.

Cheers

12v is good but usually voltmeter will pop up to about 14v when alternator kicks in.

How you checked electrolyte level in each cell if battery?

If alternator same a 12v V6 you can easily replace voltage regulator in car (at least on V6 12v you can) if brushes worn. I use a Gauss 14v regulator GA022 part number 230-24054 my supplier sells me for $20 USD. The bar code on box is 7898252650097.

With a basically new battery, first thing I'd do is check and clean up the battery connections and make sure they are tight.
