I haven't tried with the passenger lock. only the lock from inside. But if i remember right it doesn't work from the passanger side either.

Is there another connector in the door? Beside the one that you obviously see when you take the trim of?

If passenger side doesn't work either G168 must not be a problem maybe wiring at controller N11 under glove box or lock channel in N11.

Door connectors in back bottom section when lower panel off.

Ok thanks. Then i know where the connector is located in the doors.

And the N11 is located under the glove box then.

N11 is technically in front of the glove box. If you open the glove box door you will see a couple of access panels. Pop those off and you can get to the two screws that hold the aux. relay panel and related stuff. Remove the screws and then reach up under the dash (in front of the glove box) and pull down this mass of electronic stuff. The N11 is one of the plug in modules.

Now, can someone please explain how to get the darn thing back in place! I have been under the dash for an hour to no avail. I think removing the glove box door would do the trick but I haven't yet looked to see how that comes off. It might also be a two man job but whatever, its got me beat right now.

question
is the n11 door lock unit a small box with 5 connectors by Jaeger? Or is that thing the unit for the power windows?
Does it actually say N11 on it?
thank you

driver's door won't unlock

Hi folks,
I don't normally post on the 164 forum, as my car is usually reliable.

This time, though ...

My driver's door won't unlock, using any of the mechanisms. Key in the driver's door will activate the central locking and unlock the other three doors. Similarly the other ways of triggering the central locking. The interior 'pin' on this inside of the door moves, but it doesn't look like far enough. Pulling the pin won't unlock the door.

My guess is that there is a gear or a rod that has worn to the point where it can't get traction on the actual lock mechanism.

But the key problem is: if the door won't unlock, I can't open it, and if I can't open it I can't dismantle it to identify and repair the problem.

Any advice on how to get the door open?

regards,
Anthony White

Whoa Anthony!
It seems like it would be a simple fix except you can't get to it! You have a thorny one! I hope Steve has a plan as I am lost on this one. Did you try a Slim Jim, as we call it here in the states? Steve may know if that will work or not, and where to place it and pull on it if that will work. It's going to be inconvenient to say the least. Good Luck. Let us know how you fix this one.

Okay, some luck.

It turns out that you can evetually dimantle the door while it is still closed. A couple of screws under the arm rest, and another behind the door release lever, and you have enough movement to gently start levering things open.

A little more levering, finding a few more screws that could be undone with a bent screwdriver, eventually it came apart enough that I could open it.

Beyond that, it just seemed to be sticking -- I lubricated everything, adjusted some of the nylon bushes, and it's working like new.

regards,

Anthony White

I am glad you got it "fixed" and it wasn't a broken spring inside the mechanism as that is a real problem that Mr. T addressed when it happened to him on a 164.

I practically almost had to use C4 to get door open on a Mi16 Peugeot when a spring broke in latch but haven't had that happen on a 164 yet.
