Serpentine tensioner bracket issue

OK, in attempting to replace the serpentine tensioner, one bolt snapped off. My mechanic, in attempting to drill out the bolt, snapped off his ez-out in the bolt. He tells me that I need a new bracket (ie. the part that the bolts bolt into). Any thoughts on validity, difficulty in replacing, difficulty in finding the part?

In other words, HELP!

Mark

Oh, bracket in question is front motor mount bracket 60513984 item 1 in picture. I think your mech needs to learn how to torque a bolt and now how to remove a broken eazyout.

Bolt was frozen in from PO, but I would have thought that he'd have been able to remove the EZ OUT. I'm going to see if I can get one faster than that, but I will get back to you early in the week. How tough is it to replace this bracket? Is it tough to get to any of the bolts that hold it on?

You have disconnect battery, support engine on jack with board under pan, disconnect top motor mount (dog bone), remove headlight, alternator, unbolt compressor and lift up on hoses, disconnect lower motor mounts, jack engine off motor mounts, remove four nuts from studs holding bracket to engine and try to slide it forward off engine.

I say get mech/machinist to use Best way to remove broken EZ Out? - ThumperTalk EDM (electro discharge machine cutter to erode/remove his broken easyout and then drill out and helicoil bolt hole.

Lindsay: EDM How-To Book

Inspect front motor mount, too. If broken/cracked rubber you will have to replace it and more work involved to raise engine high enough to replace mount in sub frame. such as disconnecting right axle inner CV joint.
