Yes normal. If you have sun roof model go to Home Depot and get some 7w 12v landscape walkway lighting bulbs and replace yours. WHAT A DIFFERENCE 7W bulbs make.

I run a similar one as well but in an LED.
If you want to go a bit more high tech.
I found if someone left that 7W bulb from home depot on it would melt the lens plastic.
LED makes no real heat, much brighter and less energy consumed.

Here is where I bought mine:
LEDtronics: Energy-Saving LED Light Bulbs and LED Lamps for All Industries

Ciao!

Yes, take out the bulb, and match it up. The pictures of the bulbs are in true size so you can match it up to the right bulb and get an LED which plugs right in. No MODS!
Sorry I cannot remember the bulb number.

I think it is:
Instrument / Dashboard / Cabin Interior LED Replacement Lights
T3¼ (9mm) Miniature Wedge Based Bulb

they are pricey but if there is enough people interested we can do a group purchase to cut the cost.
I have LED's in my instrument cluster as well.
