Difference's in rear valve cover's ?

When I did the timing belt job on my 164 last month I noticed that 2 of the rubber mounting pads on my rear valve cover were broken and there was nothing screwed in there place. At the time I ordered the wrong valve cover gasket so when I put her back together with RTV there was a small leak. I ordered a new gasket and bought a used valve cover from ebay. when it came it doesnt have the rubber mounting points but solid ones.I installed it today along with the new gasket and used the mounting tabs with 6m 20mm long bolts. it all fit fine.. so my question is, was this change done for vibration reasons on later models ? noise ? I also noticed originally that one of the valve cover bolts didnt tighten and didnt take the time to check it last month, when I did today it seems someone before me re-tapped the hole thats just about under the vacuum port for the brakes from m7 to m8 so I changed it out and it is now tight. All the little nuances you learn about your cars while working on them..Robb

Probably some engineer thought it was a good idea but rubber mounts don't last and grounding strap was also needed to ground intake so G131 FI grounds to intake actually were grounded back to engine.
