Any Info On Having A 164 Transported

Does anyone have any useful information or references on what to do or not do when having a 164 transported by a trucking firm from one part of the country to another (i.e. where to chain it down, etc.)?
I've found a great car, I just don't want it to be damaged in the process.

I ship them all the time using M3 Auto Carriers, Ask for Greg and tell them jason at Alfissimo sent you.
great service and pricing.

#1. DO NOT ANCHOR ON REAR SUB FRAME. (IF THEY DO, THEY BEND ALL THE ARMS AND SUB FRAME) JUST HAD A CAR TOWED IN AND CHARGED TOW COMPANY TO REPLACE ALL OF IT.
2. USE FRONT TOW HOOKS (OR CENTER SUBFRAME HOOK) OR SUBFRAME USING T-HOOK BUT THEY CANNOT JERK IT OR IT WILL RIP THE SUBFRAME METAL.
3. TELL THEM TO USE WHEEL STRAPS, NOT HOOKS ON THE REAR. (CAN USE REAR TOW HOOK TO TIE DOWN BUT ONLY ON 1 SIDE.(DEPENDING ON YEAR, THERE IS A REAR TOE PLATE WHICH A T HOOK CAN BE USED
4. ALWAYS TELL THEM THIS CAR HAS A VERY FRAGILE UNDERCARRIAGE.

I would add to Jason's remarks about flat bed towing, the following:

Don't have the tower keep the e brake slightly on when pulling the car up the ramp. Some say they have to do this for liability reasons.

And, never let them stay, "the car has to remain in gear when on the flat bed at all times".
If they cannot be persuaded by the various reasons for this, cam timing and cost for repair from damage caused by a slipped belt, then I get another company to tow the car.

My two cents worth:
If 164 is automatic you can use Park and set parking brake but it 5-speed keep in neutral and set parking brake.

Early models have one center tow hook mount on sub frame under radiator. Later models have two tie down/tow mounts in corners of sub frame under fog light areas.

Rear of car has one tie down mount under right rear cover of bumper and two smaller fragile ones in center under trunk.

If and only if tow driver has flat wide fabric belts with eyelets that can wrap around rear crossmember can you strap down car using rear cross member.

We have a local guy who hauled my daughters car on a roll back who had those belts that I let him use them on rear cross member after he hooked front and rear of car at tow hooks.

There are many ways to secure a 164 on a rolll back (flat bed truck).

Short hauls I like hydraulic forks that lifts front tires and uses tire straps to hold tires in forks.

My buds trailer has 4x4 wooden chocks bolted to trailer floor in front of front wheels and back of rear wheels and then straps to tie down points and wide belts for front suspension arms and rear cross member. Maybe over kill but car can't move.
