rack gaitors

are they changeable with the rack in situ?

i'm hoping all i have to do is remove the track rod ends

YES, but count threads on inner tie rod ends before you screw off outer tie rod ends so you can reset and keep tow in the same as before.

If passenger side has oval boot and centering spring you will have to disconnect spring shaft nut using an allen wrench in end of shaft.

If you break any of the boot retaining straps use long spot ties to secure new boot.

Also check both inner tie rod end's ball sockets for play when you have rubber boots off as they are also replaceable with rack in car. You can remove them if neccessary with a plumber's faucet wrench.
