Alfisto's deferred maintenance actions

Well, today (this morning) I finally got around to doing some stuff to daughter's 164B Quik Silver (QS) that needed to be done but something always had a higher priority it seemed.

Since her friend with a heavy handed purse had recently wiped out the glass in passenger side mirror and previous ignition lock replacement had resulted in using two keys to operate car and serpentine belt needed adjustment to eliminate start up squeel and that darn pesky red light temp light were some of the things that had been dirtying up her car's yellow sheet's with flyable gripes, I finally programmed this morning to work off these gripes.

Whipped off both front door panels, changed out lock sets to match ignition lock set, replaced passenger side mirror with a Pick_N_Pull find and popped out trunk lock set and installed matching trunk lock set and swapped out emblem from old lock set.

Pulled "good" temp gauge/red light sender out of Nero's engine, drained down QS's coolant by removing thermal switch from radiator, swapped out sender. Wish me luck here.

Adjusted serpentine belt tension and pulled coolant tank to clean out oily residue buildup.

Now one key does it all again, red light gone ( I hope) and no more pig squeeling on start up.

Tomorrow I hope to replace mid muffler on my Originale 164B as it has cracked lower skin and noise is not in keeping with my desires to not sound like a Billy Bob V6 pickem up truck.

Oh, I managed to pick up my wife's new Pergola from BJ's Wholesale with my Ranger PU after my maintenance session. So you know where my effort will be next weekend.

Last week I got more done on master bath remodel. Have to install new sink in new vanity top this week, too. Also found time to rob a gas tank from a parts car and induct it into radiator shop for a clean and flush for rescue project non-QS.

If it wasn't for retirement, spare parts, house remodeling and Alfa's I would have to find a day job to keep me busy I guess.

I almost forgot Mother's Day and my Anniversary are coming up soon! Suggestions for dual gifts would be appreciated as both events same weekend.

I know that feeling well, and can identify with the satisfaction of several minor but noticeable jobs polished off in one day. I especially remember having cars with multiple keys - one had a total of three. I eventually took apart locks and filed/removed tumblers (I didn't have a spare lock set).

Well, I'm single, so don't bother taking my advice too seriously, but I suspect that a good 'dual gift' would be a weekend away somewhere (away from Alfas, the house remodelling, daughter's Alfas, etc.) As for where, well, maybe pick something that you really don't like the idea of and offer to give it a go (just for laughs). For me, that would be something like Horse Riding. Of course it would help if you could readily identify something that your wife enjoys but you do not. Sounds like hell but seems like a generous gift to me...!
