What Kind Of MPG Are You Getting...

My wife just drove our 1992 164S about 500 miles, new plugs, air filter etc. got about 22 mpg on the highway.
She likes the GO pedal, she has been driving Alfa's all her life, but I think the car should do better than 22 mpg. Of course she tells me that it runs soooo well at 85 mph..........

What are y'all seein' in your 164's???

The B and L's get better mileage on the highway than the S because of the gearing. I got 26-28 with the B and 22-24 with the S.

I have seen mileage as high as 30 on my car, going 80 on the cruise control. Cruise control really helps your mileage out big time. I think on my last trip to San Diego and Tucson I was getting around 27-28, and there were times where I really had my foot in it. Keep in mind the S is also in a higher state of tune, so it probably would use more gas then an L or a B from the get go with its more aggressive fuel and ignition mapping. I have heard S owners complain about getting as little as 20 MPG on the highway, though this is not common.

My 164B's gas mileage

Going too the wine tour last weekend, I got 25.4 almost all interstate driving for 187 miles used cruise and no cruise but about did 70-80 most of the way.

Wine tour Saturday I did another 197 miles mostly in 3rd gear sometimes 2nd doing twisties and up and down the mountains including Blue Ridge Parkway and we found some 15 degree ups and downs twisties. Lot of decel and hard accel work. I still got 25.2 mpg. Not bad for an engine with about 197,000 on it.

In my S, 24-25 mpg. 125mi/day mostly highway. I tried slowing down one week, kept it 70-75, didn't improve at all compared to when I'm at 85-90 (when no one's around...)

My 93 L gives ~24MPG in mixed driving and almost 26-28MPG on freeway driving and I drive hard all the times (except when I am driving carpool to work) while my 95 Q defintiely gives less mileage, I can say may be less than 20MPG , I didnt happen to check its mileage as I have hardly driven it more than 1000miles from the time I bought it.

My S gets around 23 average on my last San Diego to Phoenix trips I got over 25 at an average of 85 mph with a few runs up to 125. My L does much better, around 27 and up in all conditions.

My S regularly gets 24.5 to 26.0 but did hit 27.0 once when I made an effort to see how good it could do.

With my mostly short term city driving, I get 18 to 20 mpg. I think if I did mostly highway driving, I might make it up to 22 to 24 mpg, depending upon how fast I want to go.

jeff right on the money

the auto LS gets 19-ish around town. I usually go 250 +/- 5 miles between fillups of 13, 13.1, 13.2 -- in that range

The 5 speeder can just touch 20 around town -- when I can keep my foot it and drive it sedately.

On the freeway yesterday back and forth to Irvine CA from San Diego, round trip 145 miles, got 22.6 mpg (auto)

Both my cars have the 45 mm runnners-- it would help if I went back to the 39's.

Cory how in the world do you get 24 ish? 20 knot tailwind?

Here in Canada.

My 1991 S is getting 26-30 USMPG on the highway. It has a K&N filter and mandrel bent ceramic coated exhaust headers which may help for mileage.
