164LS timing belt change - advice?
I'm going to be changing the timing belt (hopefully) on our '95 164LS.
I've done a few 12V timing belts on Milano/GTV6 and would appreciate any advice on avoiding potential pitfalls and helpful suggestions.
Also, does anyone have a 164LS or Q Car disc I could rent/borrow?

We made it to the timing belt being ready to come off. I'm actually surprised it only took us as long as it did. The 164 engine bay looks pretty intimidating at first glance. Also, the 24V is a much tighter squeze than the 12V it seems...there belt has to reach the cams at the very far ends of the V....it looks like we'll have a challenge wrestling the new belt into position!

I hear having cam locks helps out greatly. Lenard has a set as he has done many 24V motors, he would be a good source of info, best of luck,

Do you have valve covers off and do you have cam timing dies to lock down cams, tensioner tools, drill bit rig pins; etc...?
See tech bulletins for 24v engine timing belt and cam timing, too.
Be sure you have good bearings in two idler and the tensioner pulleys. Also be sure tensioner cylinder is fully pressurized and has no free play in end of piston when you try to compress it.
