ATF Dextron III for TRANY?? SPARK PLUGS ?
Hi
I'm doing a fluid change on my tranny (5 speed) is ATF Dextron III the fluid of choice ?
Also I'm doing a tune-up and plan on using Bosch-Platinum+2 / Spark Plugs opion anyone ?

Yes, ATF Dexron III is correct, I myself prefer a brand you will not find but Castrol is very good, or some like redline but I have found no performance gain using redline for the money.
Stay away from MOBIL 1 ATF.
NGK iridium are better than Bosch IMO.

Also how much fluid does it take to top off the trany ?

I have probably thrown away at least 100 Bosch platinum spark plugs over the years that have caused running problems in customers cars. If you have a perfect running car with no issues such as oil burning or running a little rich ( Alfa? ) they are okay. They are very prone to fouling. I would put them in the same boat as a split fire.
I prefer just a plain ol' NGK non platinum plug. Save your money for other things the car will need. I usually change them out every two or three years depending on how many miles I have driven. This also lets me know what shape the engine is in from the color of the plugs.

IN EVER WAY THEY ARE BETTER. EVEN THE CHEAPY ARE BETTER THAN THE BOSCH +4'S.
THOSE THINGS FOULED SO DANG MUCH AND MADE THE CAR RUN SO POOR I FINALLY DUMPED THEM FOR NGK IRIDIUM FOR MY S BASED OFF THE ORIGINAL NGK FOR THE S. RAN SO MUCH BETTER. PLUGS ARE ALWAYS GOOD AND LAST A LONG TIME. I HAVE NOT CHANGED MINE IN AT LEAST 2-3 YEARS. CAR IS BACK TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE POWERWISE.
Also how much fluid does it take to top off the tranNy ?
2 LITERS FOR MANUAL.
AROUND 7 FOR AUTO.

Yea, I would run Bosch in my lawnmower. Don't sense the need to run anything by regular (and cheap) NGK's in the Alfa. And don't waste yer money on Golden Lodges either IMO (that you asked for).

I put new Iridiums in the 164 because they are supposed to be 60,000 mile plugs. Who wants to take the time to dismantle all of the intake stuff just to get to the back plugs? Why waste your time working, when you can be driving. I run Iridiums in the wife's spider and in the Acura RL. Never a problem in any of them.

I run the NGK double plats in both the S and the LS, while I"ve been using the single electrode Bosch plats in the Milano. All seem to work just fine for thousands of miles in each car, although I agree that the Bosch quad plats just didn't work in the S or LS. They run too cold and thus foul. I don't know which is better, the NGK Iridiums or the NGK Plats, but both appear to be quality plugs.
I agree that using these long lasting plugs is the way to go, as who wants to keep changing plugs if they don't have to. These modern computer controlled fuel injection engines run so clean that regular inspection, as in the old days with the 60's and 70's 4 bangers, isn't warranted or necessary.
You don't however have to fiddle with the intake stuff to get to the rear plugs on any of these 164s, or even the Milano. All the plugs are readily accessible with standard Sears sockets, extensions, and ratchets. And, all plugs come pregapped, so changing the gaps upon installation isn't needed.

I always used Castrol Dextron III and Red Lube Guard additive(recommended by ZF rep).
