Hello, My name is Rich and I'm an Alfaholic...
This is my first foray into the land six cylinders and FWD Alfa's. I guess I jumped in with all three feet. I am hoping they are as advertised: A couple of drivers and a project. Also a lot of spares. Since I'm about a 1,000 miles away this is going to be a bit of a trick. Assuming the two are up for the drive (they both have new T-belts and water pumps) my son and I will plan on flying down and driving the two back. The third car is the unknown. If it can, we will drive it back too, breaking the trip up in to three 300 mile legs. Otherwise I either ship it north or store it at a friend's locally (of course they don't know this yet!). If it stays in Florida I will likely offer it for sale.
The parts are the real wildcard. I'll take as much as I can pack into the cars and evaluate the rest for shipping. There sounds like a lot of things that just aren't going to make the trip (like body panels, doors, motor, etc). I will definitely offer those to the BB first. I am waiting for a definitive list.
Now, if someone is willing/interested in checking the cars out for me, I would be motivated to work out a very attractive deal for the spares. The seller sounds like a stand up guy but I sure would feel better to have an independent set of eyes to evaluate the cars. If you are interested, please PM me and we'll talk.
What the heck am I doing???

Geeze...someone got a heck of a deal! I have heard so many stories about HOA's and the rules. My cousin lives in a community where the HOA spells out the rules. They can't even park a car in the driveway. All cars have to be in the garage. I better stop before I get on my soap box...another thread!
The hardest part is how to ship the big parts. You most likely will need the door parts for the future...door handles etc. Should be interesting to see what he will replace the cars with. He will miss the Alfa's.

How did I miss this one?
At that time of Saturday morning I am usually browsing Ebay for Alfa (and 81 Caddy) parts, and instead I was looking for a replacement microwave oven.
I cannot find used (or new) parts locally in NE Florida, never mind three whole 164's.
Sounds like the Seller also has Teens who have no affinity.......

Yea, the Caddy (aka the Albino) may return from wence it came. The girls all hate it. I've been driving it around to make sure I'm not handing over a pile of troubles. But my youngest hides under the dash for fear of being seen (ah, the joys of being a freshman in high school) and the Dr wannabe says she'll even take an Alfa!
Man what a great cruiser though. You are completely separated from the road - it is the weirdest feeling. After a day or so I have to drive my Berlina just to remember what driving is - as opposed to piloting...

something you might want to consider for ALL of the parts and the "project" car.....fly down rent a SMALL u-haul (likely a little toyota PU cabbed box type or the next size up) and car trailer and haul it all back in a simple single trip.....definatly how i would be doing it in your position....might get a slightly cheaper rate thru ryder but i HIGHLY doubt it....lets face it odds are your going to want the parts and the "project" car...1 look at the pic's tells me that its no project car but what most of us would consider a daily driver...this takes possible "failure" out of the possibility's and allows you to haul it all and sort thru the stash when you get home...admittedly the uhaul wont get that great of gas mileage unless its the lil toyota pu..but its piece of mind and if theres as much parts as it sounds like it would probably be best...not to mention keeps parts out of the other cars for the trip home(read as no strange noises that nag in the back of you mind wondering if somethings going wrong)
i know EXACTLY how you feel in the caddy..had me a 71 coupe devile and a 74 lincoln mark ..both 2dr's.....its like floating on a cloud...but the 472 in the caddy was a MONSTER!!!! and would gladly chew holes in the pavement smoking a tire

They're kind of like driving one of those remote control tug boats in the ponds at some parks. You can see what it's doing but cannot feel it
