The Older Teen got his dream 81 Coupe De Ville which I also maintain as an aside from the Alfa.
Now he regrets ignoring my advice as gas is expensive and the local constabulary tend to follow him around especially at night.
This I defend as a good thing......

He now dreams of having a 164 whilst Younger Teen has no interest in his (MINE?) 164L.

There was a mixed household reaction when I said we just missed acquiring three 164's which would give us all our own personal Alfa!

The word "boat-a-lac" comes to mind when I think of the old Caddies. This word came from the sign on the back of an old finned Caddy at the first Monterey Races I went to in the late 70's.

Does it have the hip-hop suspension? You won't have a problem turning this car.

Ok, I am trying to figure out how to proceed with this deal. I am confident that the PO has very accurately represented these cars. But I may have trouble getting them all back to Michigan. One option I am considering is selling off the 3rd car and a good share of the extra parts. So here is the summary as I know it:

This is a 1991 164L with 133,400 miles. It is Midnight Blue with dark grey lowers. The paint is fair with some clearcoat failure but is otherwise rust free and straight. The tan interior is in excellent shape. I am not certain but I believe things are in good working order with the exception of the AC (as soon as I get clarification I will post). He believes it needs to be recharged but the car hadn't been run in two years. In any event, assume the AC will need maintenance.

The car starts, runs and drives. The biggest issue is that with the mileage, it's time to change the T belt and water pump and I am not confident that it would make the thousand mile trip. This is a two owner car that had been well maintained until it was put in storage.

I am waiting for a list of parts but at a minimum it includes doors, body panels and an extra motor.

I would like to get $1,900 for the car and parts. The car is located in Orlando, Florida. If you are interested in this car, please PM me.

T-belt and water pump are a grand retail, so first off I'd run it for twenty five to forty minutes to see if it over heats. Auto tranny would be another concern so a test drive would be in order. If I were within 300 miles I would offer $450 sight un seen but if the above were good, I might offer $900. Just my opinion from what can be had on the west coast.

I buy and pass on 164's for $500 all the time with no tbelt history. I would give the remainder ($2600) of the $4500 buy it now price for the 2 nice 164's.

like i said before..fly down and pickup a u-haul and car trailer from the closest u-haul or ryder truck place ..load the parts and the "project car" and figure it out when ya get home....or for cheeper, a tow dolley and a small PU from ryder or u-haul...shouldnt cost ya all that much........if you think u-haul/ryder will give you any issues with what your hauling as its not going to be in there books..tell them your hauling a 60's VW bug

as i see it...it would be rather rude of you to flip a car you havnt even removed from the premises..same goes with the parts...id be pissed if i sold something and someone was flipping stuff while i had it stored for them waiting for them to pick it all up

Tow dolly precaution loading note:

If you do the car dolly thing be very careful loading car on dolly as we tore up bumper and busted out fog lights trying to get a non running 164 loaded.

Front of car is just to low. We finally had to use a floor jack under jack point under driver's door to get sub frame high enough to clear and winch it onto dolly dragging floor jack along with car

shoulda used some blocks of wood works great in those situations lol..basically extend the ramps to lessen the angle..another trick is to put a brick under each ramp and add some blocks to the end...then my fav leave the car in the driveway and put the tow dolley in the street at the end of the drive way..this generally makes the angle acceptable even for the lowest of cars ...back the dolly up so its tires are at street level but the ramps are on driveway/sidewalk level..generally speaking it results in a almost level line from the driveway to the dolly
