cam pulley markers - 24v

Going to have to check my cam belt hasn't slipped a tooth or two. Can anyone please tell me what markers to try lining everything up on and where to find them? It is a 1995 V6 24v Super (UK spec).

Thanks.

You have to have both cam covers off heads to see rear of cams and timing marks. Also you have to have right tire and front inner fender liner off to see crankshaft pulley.

You need a 41mm (1 5/8") socket to turn crankshaft CLOCKWISE (CW) to line up Top Dead Center (TDC) line on front crankshaft pulley with pointer on front engine cover. It helps to have sparkplugs out so engine will turn easier.

Turn engine clockwise with socket wrench to line up TDC marks on front crankshaft pulley and then check timing marks on rear of each cam. If none appear lined up turn engine again 360 degrees CW and with front pulley back on TDC marks recheck cam timing marks.

First link shows where to look for cam timing marks. Picture is of front head. Also notice special tool timing dies locking cams in place. All tools used are shown in various links and some shown in these threads

Great. Thanks for that Steve. Will do it at the same time as taking the auxillary belt off to find out which bearing is going there.

All the best,

Richard
