OK, so I am having my Alfa mechanic install the Squadra Chip. My son gave it to me as an Xmas present.

Overall, except for Goats who didn't notice a change, it seems everyone says that it will improve power on my LS where it needs help: In the low end torque dept.
We will see soon!

Let you know.

Anybody experience a Autodelta chip, because the've got one only there isn't much info abouth the chip. More inportant is that in Europe the "Benzina" price
is way up and with a Squadra chip you have to fill your tank with Ron98 and with the Autodelta chip you can still fill your tank with Ron95.
www.Autodelta.uk

If you have info please let me know.

Thnx Erwin

Sam if you want low end torque

ditch the 44 mm intake runners and go back to 39 mm runnners. Thats the easiest way to preserve what little low end torque these motors produce.

One of the reasons (prob the single biggest reason) that the bottom end of these motors (all alfa motors in general, not just the 3 liters) lasts so long is that the torque is limited--- my opinion-- to the higher rev range

97/98ron is recommended. I only use 91 octane = to 95 RON, that is all we have here and I have 0 problems. I think squadra is better not because I sell it but because It is a better product and I am supporting a small guy who does this, autodelta just rubbed me wrong. I doubt they put as much research into their 164 chips as squadra. I don't even see 164 chip, last time I heard they did not make any. I am sure it is twice the price as well.
I do not think you will get knocking from using 95ron.
I can talk to Stephen and possible have it made for 95ron but you may loose some HP/trq

Thanx Jason for your info, I know the Squadra chip is very good. But you only get aproximately 12HP rom it. And that's not what I had in mind.
I will think abouth something else....

Greetings Erwin

Yes. But for a chip I think that is the most that can be extracted on the QV model without problems, (i.e, overheating, premature wear and pinging)

it is a good upgrade no matter what you plan to do internally or exhaust wise.
Don't expect too much from a chip with the old motronic units. Newer MAP and so forth are much more tunable.

Good luck.

I have stock runners on my 24 LS. What mm is that?

stock is 39 I believe

If its low end torque you want to preserve, keep the 'smaller' intake runners and don;t upgrade to the "230 HP" Q runners (larger). Stock runners are just fine.

This is correct if you left it stock, if you want to keep that low end torque keep the 39mm LS runners.
With the chip you can see in torque or Nm values the difference with Ls/super 39mm intake runners:

HP:

RPM----STK----CHIP---Gain
2500----219----222-----22

Now for Q with 45mm intake runners and chip:

Nm:

Hp:

RPM----STK----CHIP---Gain
2500----225----239-----14

Loose a little around 2500-3000RPM but overall more Hp of course

What we need is a 42mm intake runner to bring out some extra Hp but not loose that low end.
Just depends on what you want to do.

Would it be ok to install the chip on a high mileage car, or woud it be no good for the engine, my 164S has 206 km approx 128 k miles.

OK, just got my car back after having the chip instaled. I think it takes some time before the chip programs and gets to peak performance (?)

In any case, I think I feel more pep and smoother, more linear power. No check engine light on, either. Will drive for a while and see.
