Bad LCD Controller

Hi

I;ve repaired quite a few of these. There are a series of solder joints in the Climate Control Module that eventually go bad (yet another bell-ringer from Bosch). I can fix it for you --PM me.

Please Help Same 4 Emergency Light Problem

Dear Alfista
i bought my first alfa,a 95 164 LS a month ago,
it is a very nice car but it started doing the same problem you posted, flashing lights going on crazily ...my mechanic first disconnetted the alarm, then removed the relay for all the blinkers! (we are waiting for the emergency blinkers new button as he believes that the fact that is located below the air conditioning vent caused to expand and shrink too much,as i live in las vegas)
your help in how you solved the same problem will be greatly apprecciaated
ciao
gabriele

You need to send it to me for repair

please PM me. This is repairable by me in my shop with my specialized equipment. It is the CLimate Control Module that has a problem (and its not the switches) and I have repaired many of these. Do all your LCD segments work? send me a PM please

I assume that if I have one of your rebuilt 94-95 modules, this problem has been fixed as well.

thanks,

Hi Del

A friend in UK figured out the 'intermittent flashers' thing about 2 years ago, he and I have traded fixes over the past few years. Since then, I have checked every unit that I have rebuilt/upgraded for the problem (as preventative). If I upgraded your module prior to 2 years ago (approx) you may have a latent issue-- but I doubt it. As usual with Alfa, it seems to be a 'bad batch" of solder joints and surface mount process. Unlike the display ribbon, its not a design failure but a lack of process control, and a quality failure.

Ok, will keep that in mind. Had a Sony tv once which suffered from cold solder joints everywhere. It was common for the first of the big 32+ inch tube tv's, pre wide screen. The local tv repair guy said that the Sony's all would end up not working right due to poor workmanship and quality control. Can't get away from it it seems, no matter where the stuff is made.
