Motor mount replacement
I need to replace at least one of my motor mounts in the 164B, as it clunks when shifting and accellerating. My question is how do I figure out which ones I need to replace, and are they hard to do. The shop manual doesn't seem to mention a detailed proceedure, but rather refers to it in passing as part of engine removal...

It usually is either the front passenger hydraulic, or top dog bone mount. Typically!
They are not tough to R&R.
But it could be a number of things as well. Could be suspension components as well.
Check it all out. Motor mounts are simple to check. Front is usually torn and oil all over it. Top is broken in the large and the small is torn/broken.
Easy to check is to move the motor and check for lots of play.
Hope that helps, that was the fast version!

Usually when a motor mount clunks it is small one that upper link is attached to on rear head as rubber bushing has given up and it is metal to metal and engine will clunk when it moves back and forth.
Much easier to replace with a 3 piece poly bushing kit IAP 34061. http://www.international-auto.com/in...957594&noapp=1

It's a PITA to do without a press. My neighbor has a 25 ton press, so I took it to him. I have a thread on that as well which I'm about to post a pic on.
Have you checked all the little exhaust hanger donuts for exhaust rubbage?

Only a pain if you try to install factory bushing. Much easier to go to poly bushing route on either end of upper engine mount by cutting out old ones.
Replacing "dog bone" engine bushings

Steve, that's what I meant as far as getting the old ones out. I wonder how well the Alfa factory tool for doing the smaller one worked...

That's why I cut through old bushing outer shell to relieve the pressed fit so you can get it out.
