Dip stick length on 164s

I found filled with 8Q is right over the "top mark" after you put 8Q in. But after driving and engine is hot, I parked the car for a few minutes, and it is much more over the top than I like. I don't think it will do harm because it is only a little bit over, but I prefer to do it the safe way.

I prefer to filled just a little bit over half mark right after filled when oil is not hot yet, so when it is hot, it NEVER go over (or even close to) the top mark. This conform with my owner's manuals say which is 7.5Q for my 92 164S, and 7Q for my 94 164LS. I only do refill when it is between half and "lower mark" with hot engine.

Actually, the Complete Car section of the car disk (copy of the Alfa Repair manual) says total capacity, 7.5 LITERS which is 1.98 gals (manual says 2 gals), to be precise, but half quart either way makes little difference, unless it is in an overfill state.
