I have looked at a pic of that 164 beside a normal 164L for a long time and studied the proportions, etc. I think that whoever is selling this car is nuts! It's just a normal 164!

I've never heard of a LONG wheelbase version! Maybe he thinks that the 'L' stands for LONG and not Lusso!

Cheers,

Be warned though, Alfas can have a strange effect on owners; ‘Alfaholic’ a recognised condition among car enthusiasts

Wink

There is no such thing as a long wheel base 164. The L stands for Lusso and the reclining rear seats were an option that was available on the L's.

Yes, I agree! I have checked every piece of reference material I have and there is NO mention of any LONG wheelbase 164!

A lot of people think that Alfa is like BMW or Mercedes...they aren't! They did not build many variants of their mass production cars (in terms of body style, anyway!). The 164 came in many guises (Twin-Spark, Turbo-Diesel, 3.0V6, Lusso (L), Sport (S), Base, LS, Quadrifoglio, etc.), but none of these were built on a different wheelbase.

Unless someone can prove that there are some unusually long 164s out there, this e-bay car is not what it appears to be.

Cheers,
