I purchased a 164 in Italy without power seats. It is not economical to produce all variations of a wiring harness. So, the car was prewired for power seats. Adding power seats was easy, just plug and play.

Wiring the rear heaters can be the only difference. It is eady to run a line from the battery. The connectors are different for the front seats, but that is simple.

The seat heaters don't seam to fail on the recaros like the stock seats. Also, I was able to pretty simply install diodes on the seats and wires to the dash indicator on the 1994-1995 models to indicate when the seat heaters are on!

FWIW, several years ago I searched for a Recaro interior for quite awhile and came up empty. I opted for a S interior that came out of a car wrecked after only 400 miles. Save for a couple blood stains, they were in excellent condition, and worlds better than the B/L seats. Cost was $1000. Put in that perspective, this Recaro interior at $2000 is a fair price. The challenge is clearly the limited market. Of course, the supply is also quite limited. Incidentally, is a new replacement Recaro interior actually still availabe?

Best seats ever

Jason will have the mating connectors for the recaros when he sells the seats, I'm sure. They are NOT the same as the connectors in the other cars, but the wires are essentially all the same (two wires for motor power, two wires for heater power, etc.). All the electronics are contained in a box that mounts under the driver's seat (the memory electronics).

I have two sets of Recaros. One set I bought and put in my L, one tan set I put in my LS (tan is REALLY rare). In my opinion, everything on a car can be replaced/refurbished fairly easily, and at reasonable cost, except upholestry. Recaro leather is FAR superior to the leather of any of the other 164 interiors. It will last many, many years. I'm into 164's for the long haul, so if you are, you'll want these. Even a very well maintained 164 will show its age in the seats.

These seats are available new, from Alfa. 3200 Euros or so, a piece for the front seats (sorry if this was mentioned already).

The seats sit lower in the car than all other seats. Adds about 1"-1.5" headroom for taller people. My L does not have a sunroof (I love it that way), and with the Recaros in there, I have lots of comfortable room.

Cheers,

Karl

Hey Jeff, "my neighbor" = your car

Is she back on the road yet?

I agree, they it will take a considerable amount of time to sell, but you should be able to get somewhere around your asking price.

What about eBay?
