Scary experience in 91L
Flew to Orlando on Thursday bought a pristine black 91L with pristine S interior. Drove back Thursday evening to Santee, SC for RON (crew rest). Up early today drove for hours in the dark with no drama.
At 0800 this morning in bright daylight left I-95 and hit a two lane to get back home (Interstate does not go here from the south).
At about 0830 out of the woods from my right comes a deer across the road. Slam on the brakes deer misses me. But now out of the woods comes a big arse dog in hot pursuit of said deer. I nail him in his left rear hindquarter with left front corner of bumper still going about 45 or so. Deer long gone and dog disappears too so condition unknown.
Scard the ---- out me but God saved me and the Alfa today. Thank You Lord!
Only damage to car is left head light washer nozzle which appears to have been already broken and glued to bumper disappeared.

Really glad you and the deer are ok. I have no sympathy for dogs that chase deer. In that regard...good shot Steve!

I have no sympathy for deer - at all! I do, however, respect a dog that will chase the damn things off the property
That could be because deer out here are overpopulated and an absolute menace. Aren't they a menace everywhere???
Hope it wasn't someone's pet dog...
Anyways.
Those deer are scary when in the car. I had a scary moment myself last week out in the very rural area around school. Deer ahead up in oncoming lane so I slow down to almost stop, and it moves to side of road and I start to pass, slowly, then it starts RUNNING ALONGSIDE CAR and comes CLOSE ENOUGH that I could TOUCH THE DAMN THING. Anyways - a quick blast of the horn sent him/her off away - but dang - if had had decided to jump my way I might have had a broken windshield/glass/dents/deer hair all over the place.

About 15 years ago I was driving a Mazda 626 about this time of year with the windows down (Texas, you can do that) and I see this 8 pt buck come on the road on a mission. I rein in the car, the deer reins in himself, and we both come to a stop with the deer's nose in the window up to his antlers. His eyes big as saucers, my eyes big as saucers, and we both turn around and go home to change pants.

I think the dog was a German Shepard but it happen so fast and he was going so fast after deer I am not sure. I am sorry I hit him but not sorry I missed getting hit by deer.
JUST TALKING TO MY NEIGHBOR about this as we get out before sunrise with our dogs and he said maybe it was a really wolf not a dog since it was heavy woods as is real forested area.
It was solid forest on both sides of road where deer popped out at me so hard to say what game deer and dog were playing.
You gotta see this car it is (was almost) showroom until dog tap broke off washer nozzle and popped a bit of clearcoat off bumper.
Happened in NC just before VA state line. Once in VA many Billy Bob's Pick Up trucks with dog boxes on the back were parked everywhere along highway so there were deer hunters or turkey hunters out in force off in the wilds. Don't think this was a trained hunting dog though.
I am pretty sure car may have been repainted but maybe not it sure has a nice paint job and 164S pristine interior is amazing.
Pictures to follow maybe today if rain stays away.

Deer should be shot by hunters, not chased by dogs. Dogs on the other hand should flush pheasants so they can be shot

We have a very large coyote who prowls fields around my house looking for cats, dogs, chipmunks, squirrels or smaller of the half dozen deer. Found kitty paws a few months ago, before our summer pair of turkey vultures cleaned up. I try to watch for Wiley Coyote when my wife is gone and the Beretta is handy, before I lose one of my pets who chase all of the same game. Its their low pay but enjoyable job that keeps both sides fit.
Steve, glad to hear you avoided damage to the 164 and I bet the critter is a bit sore after this close call!
