Parting out my 91 164B 5 Speed
The belt let go at speed!!!: I will start parting her out this week. Dead straight with a cloth interior. Had an S engine with about 75K on her. Some parts are spoken for...She has a virtualy new Focuz DTM stainless steel exhaust with a cat that is less than 4 weeks old ( I needed it for CA smog!) Bose rear speakers..Euro ECU with a chip (damn she was fast). Great gearbox and a nearly new clutch....Let me know if you are needing anything...
I am located in southern CA

I am in need of one of the small rubber "cones" that sit near the top of the headlights in the engine bay. They help cushion contact with the hood when it is closed I guess. Mine went missing after it went in for some service at one of the shops. I did not notice it in time. I think they have a bolt at the bottom and screw in. Let me know how much you want for one.
Thanks!

It seems a shame to send a decent car to the crusher just becasue the engine is bad, there is a auto 164 with a blown tranny on craigslist for $950 that supposed to run ok, an engine swap wouldnt be that huge of a deal.

Do save the fuel filler if it has the recall kit done and the rubber hose is in good shape. These parts are no longer available and could be eBayed if no takers here.

Though I need parts for my car... I vote with Travis_K! Don't part it out. Rebuild it, swap a motor into it, or bug somebody else to do that. A good straight, non rusty 164 is still worth driving.
(What if your mother/wife parted you out just because you broke your leg and couldn't run?)

Hi Fred,
I tend to agree with you, however the car had some major suspension problems as well...And I was putting off fixing those issues until....well you know how that goes....Well anyway it "made" me get my "S" on the road and gave me the capability of canibalizing what I need for that ie: power steering pump, AC compressor, take out the rack re-build and put it in the "S", and a couple of other sundry things that I would keep a spares...But again, as I agree with you about "parting-out" it will keep others on the road also; and who knows maybe someone will want a dead straight body!!! I will be back home on friday mid afternoon
Cheers
