Factory alarm question, installation in non alarm car

I have a 91 164L with no alarm and keyless entry( didnt come with it from factory) , has anyone tried to install the factory alarm in a car that didnt come with it. I have a 92 L parts car with a good remote , and alarm system.

Most of the wiring was loomed into other looms, so it would be a heck of a lot of work to make that possible. Plus the factory system is not great.
I would go with a nice aftermarket, I choose Clifford. Does all I need and works perfectly. If you have the wiring diagrams you can wire it just like factory plus you have a more updated alarm with lots of extra features like window roll up, trunk release, etc...

Although an L may have been pre wired, I know the B model was no pre-wired. Best way to check is to pull carpet up on left rear strut tower and see of harnesses for ecu are present. I kind of think that if it did not come with the alarm it was wired like a base model. Back then they did not learn to just wire them all the same to save money.

Yes, many companies sell just a keyless system. Very simple, much more than a full alarm.

If you have a L model 164 most likely there is a factory alarm in the car. The one thing to look for first is the red led light on the center console then the alarm siren under the passenger side carpet. I have never seen a L model without a alarm to date that is.

I thought the same, I have had 4 91-92 L's and this is the first one without the alarm/remote, I have the window sticker and the $ 275 dollar alarm option is not there. No red light, no alarm siren in the trunk. strange but true
