What fuel injector cleaner do you reccomend?

Well, I got most the bugs ironed out on my 164 for the moment, but after cleaning the fuel pump carrier basket, and changing the fuel filter, I think there is some gunk still left in the injectors themselves. Does anyone know of a good fuel additive that cleans up the injectors good? Any help is appreciated, take it easy,

Jon

You can us Techron additive or BG-44 or most any good brand like Gum Out or Gold Star but if injectors have bad filter, etc you may need to get them cleaned. I use
Rich at Cruzin Performance in MI. He pretests, cleans, changes filters, orings, pintle caps and retests. He gives you complete test chart of before and after and all your old parts back with new stuff installed in sealed bags.

Agreed, remove the injectors and get them cleaned on an ultrasonic rig

BG-44K works magic. By far the best chemical product I have ever used. I would highly recommend it. I buy it from:

Smile The Ultimate - Tip from Mercedes M-100.cc

Hi Alfa Friends,

I am also interested in Alfa's. Currently have a 79 Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9. What I am going to share with you I have found to be one of the coolest things I have learned about cars in all my years of car stuff that is not only relevant to Mercedes.

If you go to the www.m-100.cc board and search for ATF you will find members' posts and experiences. In short, the hot setup for this problem is to add ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) to your gas tank at fill up time at a 100/1 ratio. On the 6.9 I have a 26.4 gallon gas tank so I add a quarter of a quart of ATF to my tank when filling up. This will clean your entire fuel system beginning with the tank to the injectors. Don't over do it!! The 100/1 ratio is correct. This will also add a bump to your octane rating. THIS WORKS FANTASTICALLY. I have done this repeatedly in my 6.9, my wife's BMW M Coupe and my Focus SVT. You will literally feel the difference in how your engine feels with this treatment. I have become addicted and always add ATF to my gas when I fill up my 6.9. We got this tip from M-100 members in Australia and it's one of those simple things that is really effective and easy to do. No downsides reported.

Hope this is useful!!!

Interesting link to the Benz site

My grandfather was a big MB fan, owning a 1968 200D, a 190 SL, and I believe a 220 with a Hycomat automatic transmission, and my dad's friend owns a 6.3, though it has been in a state of disrepair for sometime. Anyways, the auto tranny fluid idea sound interesting and I will have to give it a shot, thanks for the help,

Jon
