164 24v Air Conditioning

Is there a sight glass anywhere on the 24v cars for checking the freon level in the system? Where are the low and high pressure connectors? This is an area on the 164 I haven't gotten in to yet. The wife wants me to be sure the a/c is working before we head out to Portland. The hardest working system on these cars is the a/c in 110 deg. heat in a black car.

Sight glass on dryer filter but that is made more for the r12, not r134.
ports are located on the POA valve on fender and under cover on line going into filter dryer.
I would take it to a professional if you do not have the equipment.

I do have the guages, so if I need to refresh with R134a, I can do that. If it is R12, then I need to find the local shop that can handle this as you do have to have a certificate to buy/sell/install R12. I will check the sight glass today and see what comes of it. Thank you for the tip.

The 94-95 models came with R134a. So hook up your gauge set low pressure blue to fitting on POA valve in front of engine and red to high pressure fitting near receiver dryer under plastic cover behind false firewall.

With engine running and a/c engaged look for 35-40 psi on LP Gauge and 150-250 0n HP gauge. Radiator cooling fan should cut on about 200-215psi on HP gauge. If LP reading higher than 40-45 you probably need some freon.
