Pretty much same way on later ones but with no aux shaft pulley in rear head to drive oil pump tensioner apppears to be mounted higher on block and rear exhaust cam pulley gets belt wrapped onto more teeth.

I dont think the 24 valve is any harder on cam belts its just more expensive if it goes wrong .I run a 24valve 164 super and ive had it a year When i first bought it i looked throught the sevice records and it had its 1st belt change at 63767 miles (as per alfa) i bought the car at 118,000 miles and subsequentley had the belt changed
So I reckon every 50,000 is a safe interval for all camblet changes
Just a footnote to this my2.0 t spark 147 belt snapped on me @ 63000 miles 450 miles after Id bought it .I bought it off a company director who had it from new and had it serviced regularly by alfa and they say change the belt at 73000 (f!"+_ing morons).
New head and belts fitted. Costly

the 156, gt and 147 all have paralell arms on the front. i won't confirm on the 166 as i am not sure.
